Busy Week

This week was so full of things to do and places to be.  Thursday Red had awards day at her school.  She received two awards for the first nine weeks of school and she made momma and daddy proud.  Friday we had a pumpkin carving and autumn harvest luncheon with Red's class.  P'nut and I went - we all had a blast.  Red's teacher did an amazing job putting together this activity.  The children started the party by completing an activity in which Mrs. Nelson had incorporated a science lesson into the pumpkin carving.  After the pumpkin's had been carved the class went out into the courtyard and rotated around several activity centers based on a Halloween theme.  The children had a wonderful time and I had a great time watching and seeing how excited they all were!  After the activities we had lunch and then it was time to go home.  That night I cooked homemade lasagna and we had our friends Stephen and Barbie come over from Tennessee.  It was so much fun getting to see our friends we don't get to see everyday.  We had such a wonderful time - thanks Stephen and Barbie - can't wait until next time!
Saturday was another busy day for us.  Red decided she was going to be Hannah Montana and P'nut was a fairy.  We were all so excited that the city we live in had decided to have its first annual Halloween festival downtown.  They blocked off a huge portion of the main street and all of the local vendors were handing out candy and providing entertainment for the children - it was great fun for everyone!  P'nut was amazed by all of the costumes and at one point we had to literally pick her up and carry her away from a boy in a SpiderMan costume because she was so enamored by him and thought he was the "real" SpiderMan.  After the festival we took the children to McDonald's for a little playtime and dinner - it was an absolute zoo but the kids had a blast.  Then we all went to a neighborhood and took the kids trick or treating.  The kids have so much candy they won't run out until next year!
