Catch Up ......

Since we are so far into the year I thought I would simply write and post a few photos to let you all know what we have been up to this year. In January of this year, I was in Atlanta for about a month helping to care for my grandmother who was put into hospice on January 6th. On January 26th we lost my Aunt Lyn to colon cancer and on January 29th we lost my grandmother. It was difficult and joyous at the same time because we know we are going to see them both one day in heaven. After that Martin and I took a much needed mommy-daddy weekend and headed to Asheville, NC and toured the Biltmore House during our stay. It was a much needed break and I was so excited to finally get to tour the Biltmore as I have never done this before. Needless to say - we will go back again! In March our family received another bump in the road when much to our surprise Martin was laid off.  It was a very trying time but a rewarding time in that he was able to stay home with the girls for the summer and play the role of Mr. Mom while I worked part-time and continued my schooling. Red finished her first year of elementary school and was awarded an award for reading over 100 books during the school year - we were so proud!  We had a wonderful summer and spent time at the beach and as family. Finally at the end of July Martin received a job offer - only for us to hit another bump in the road! Martin began having chest pains and tightness in his chest and our family practitioner sent him to the cardiologist. Thanks to our angel of a neighbor who worked in the doctor's office we were able to get Martin in and the procedures scheduled immediately so he was able to start his job on time. Since then Martin has been enjoying his new job which he gets free lunch and to play trivial pursuit every Wednesday - makes me jealous.  Red has started first grade and P'nut is now in 3 year old preschool - she is still having some days where she finds it difficult to adjust. As for me, I am continuing to work part-time and I am at the end of my classes for my Master's degree. In January, I will begin student teaching and if all goes well I will have my degree by the summer of next year. Throughout this year our family has truly witnessed God's hand in everything we have been through and we know He will continue to guide us and direct us as long as we keep focused on him.
